Campus Safety

The Sweet Briar College Department of Campus Safety is responsible for providing for the safety and security of the Sweet Briar community. Located in The Conference Center, Campus Safety provides 24 hour/365 days a year coverage using foot and motor patrol. Any accidents, criminal offenses or security problems need to be reported to Campus Safety immediately.

The Department is staffed with State-certified Campus Safety officers, some of whom are sworn Conservators of the Peace and have arrest authority on College property. Dispatchers for the Campus Safety maintain radio and telephone contact with the officers on patrol, and also monitor emergency alarms.

Any person who needs emergency assistance should dial (434) 381-6111, or if you need to make a report to the Campus Safety dial (434) 381-6144. The officers on duty make periodic patrols of the campus on foot and by marked/unmarked patrol vehicles, and are in constant radio contact with a dispatcher. Campus Safety also processes all parking violation notices and appeals of violations.
