Private colleges ready to welcome prospective students

| July 15, 2014

Prospective students are invited to participate in Virginia Private College Week from July 28 to Aug. 2, hosted by the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia and its members, including Sweet Briar.

Sydney Bolton ’14 leads a campus tour during Virginia Private College Week in 2013.

The annual open house is offered as a cost- and time-efficient way for prospective students and their parents to visit a number of Virginia’s private colleges and universities in one coordinated trip. By visiting at least three institutions during the week, students receive three application fee waivers to use at any of the participating CICV colleges.

Most schools, including Sweet Briar, adhere to a similar campus tour and information session schedule that covers admissions, financial aid and academic programs. College officials will also address common misunderstandings regarding the cost of a private college education.

At Sweet Briar, sessions will be held at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily through Friday. Only the morning session will be offered Saturday, Aug. 2. Additionally, optional tours of the riding center are available at 11:15 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Each session begins with a tour of campus and overview of the distinctive aspects of a Sweet Briar education and concludes with informational sessions on admissions and financial aid.

Due to space limitations, reservations are strongly recommended but are not required to visit Sweet Briar. However, lunch is on us if you register in advance.

If you have questions or are unable to visit during Virginia Private College Week, please email [email protected] or call (800) 381-6142. The staff will be happy to schedule a visit at another time.
