According to the website,, the organization based rankings on commitments reported on or before May 31. Sweet Briar is the only Old Dominion Athletic Conference member to make the list.

Coach Teresa Boylan

“We have worked diligently through the year to select talented and ambitious players,” says sixth-year head coach Teresa Boylan. “In addition to the Tennis Recruiting Network players, we have a solid group of returners who will help continue our strong tradition of tennis at Sweet Briar.”

Among the core players the newcomers will be joining is rising sophomore Mary Elise Dugan (Alexandria, Va./Chatham Hall). Dugan, who earned an ODAC Player of the Week Honorable Mention in April, recorded three conference wins in her rookie season at the No. 3 singles spot.

Boylan says recruiting hasn’t stopped — the Vixens will scout players at tournaments and showcase competitions through the summer and fall. Stops include the U.S. Tennis Association’s Mid-Atlantic Sectionals; the Tennis Recruiting Network L3 National Showcase tournament in Newport News, Va.; the Donovan Tennis Strategies College Prospects Showcase at Yale University; the USTA Regional in Birmingham, Ala.; and the annual College Coaches Recruiting Workshop at the National Clay Court Championships in Memphis, Tenn.
