The Sweet Briar College Board of Directors held its first face-to-face meeting today on the Sweet Briar College campus, electing leaders, adopting a formal policy of inclusiveness and transparency and beginning work to establish board governance policies and a committee structure.
Phillip C. Stone, the former president of Bridgewater College and a highly respected Virginia attorney, officially became the 12th president of Sweet Briar College today, assuming the reins of the liberal arts college shortly after the College’s new board of directors convened at 5 p.m. to elect a new leader.
Sweet Briar and Lynchburg colleges will host a joint riding program open house from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 17, on both campuses. The event will present opportunities to speak with representatives from each program.
