Football stadium renamed for Gen. Krulak

| October 23, 2015

Gen. Charles C. Krulak, vice chair of Sweet Briar College’s Board of Directors, received a rare honor last week when Birmingham-Southern College renamed its football stadium after him.

Krulak served as the school’s president from 2011 to June 2015 and was instrumental in its survival. The Birmingham News reports that the renaming of Panther Stadium was a surprise to him.

Krulak retired from the military after reaching the top post in the U.S. Marines as commandant, serving on the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1995 to 1999. He also was the CEO of MBNA Europe from 2001 to 2004 and vice chairman of MBNA America Bank from 2004 to 2005.

Krulak never took a salary during his tenure as president of Birmingham-Southern.
