Endstation and Sweet Briar celebrate 4th of July

| June 17, 2014

Sweet Briar College and Endstation Theatre Company will present a special 4th of July celebration at
5:30 p.m. Friday, July 4, in front of Benedict Hall. A performance of “Two Gentlemen of Virginia,” one of three plays in the company’s 2014 Blue Ridge Summer Theatre Festival, will follow at 7 p.m.

Afternoon festivities are free and open to the public and will be hosted by Endstation’s “Benjamin Franklin” (actor GFW Carruth), with special appearances by his friends “Thomas Jefferson” and “James Madison.” The event will also feature free ice cream provided by the College, as well as balloon raffles, music and sparklers. In addition, Wild Wolf Brewing Company will begin pouring beer on site at 5:30 p.m.

Endstation is asking guests to bring a picnic and “share a drink with some revolutionary rebels, as we toast to our national independence. As Benjamin Franklin once said, ‘In wine there is wisdom, and in beer there is freedom.’ ”

Two-for-one ticket specials to the performance will be available to Amherst County residents (with valid zip code) and Sweet Briar College faculty and staff (with valid I.D.).
