Fun and creativity meet at Explore Engineering

| September 26, 2014

Sweet Briar College’s Margaret Jones Wyllie ’45 Engineering Program hosts Explore Engineering Design for high school women every summer. During the five-day event, participants are taught basic engineering skills such as building circuits and 3D computer modeling. Then, they put those skills to use by designing, building, testing and improving assigned projects. The challenge this year was to make an automated, interactive sound or music system.

Partially underwritten by AREVA Inc., a world leader in nuclear power, Explore Engineering Design is helping the College’s engineering program achieve one of its primary goals: increasing the number of women in engineering professions.
