Sweet Briar’s annual Tree Lighting will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 29 in front of Memorial Chapel.
A longstanding College tradition, the occasion brings the entire campus community together to celebrate the start of the holiday season. Students, faculty and staff enjoy singing and hot cider as the tree is illuminated for the first time.
Even the College’s horses join in. Riding Council members deck their tack with bells and seasonal finery and ride in procession around the tree.
The students also take up a toy and clothing collection for needy families.
Immediately following the Tree Lighting, Chaplain Adam White will be decorating the Chapel and he’s looking for extra hands. “We need all the help we can get,” White said.
