Sweet Briar Theatre Presents ‘As You Like It’

Sweet Briar Theatre will present William Shakespeare’s “As You Like It,” directed by William Kershner, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, Friday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 29 and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 in Murchison Lane Auditorium at Babcock Fine Arts Center.

“As You Like It” is considered by many to be one of Shakespeare’s greatest comedies. The play features some of his best-loved characters and runs the gamut of romance, cross-dressing, mistaken identity, love notes, poetry, brilliant conversation, gentle satire, slapstick and passion.

Admission to Thursday’s performance is free for all students and teachers with ID. The Sunday matinee will be sign interpreted. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for students, and free for children younger than 12 and for members of the Sweet Briar community. There also will be a pre-show dinner lecture by assistant professor of English Anthony Lilly before the opening performance at 6 p.m. Thursday in Johnson Dining Room at Prothro Hall. Call (434) 381-6339 for dinner rates. Tickets for the show are sold separately.

Sweet Briar students, staff and faculty may also reserve their free tickets between noon and 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Prothro atrium.
