Sweet Briar wrapped up the regular season with a strong second-place finish in the morning show. Along the way, Olivia Smith ’14 won first place in open flat and third in open over fences, qualifying for the regional finals in open over fences. She also was the high-point individual champion.
Fellow first-year Catherine Marcks won first in intermediate flat and fourth in intermediate over fences, and was the reserve high-point rider.
Sarah Hibler ’14 placed first in novice flat. With first-year Laura Leitch’s participation, the Vixens combined for 28 points to claim the reserve high-point team championship.
Hollins University took first with 34 points. Rounding out the top five were Bridgewater College with 27, Lynchburg College with 23 and James Madison University with 19 points.
During the regional finals in the afternoon, Smith was reserve champion in open over fences and intermediate flat and she finished fifth in the Cachionne Cup standings for the region.
Sissy Winstead ’12 placed third in walk, trot. Both Winstead and Smith advanced to the zone finals, which will be held April 10 at Bridgewater.
